pulled sciatic nerve

So I was having this pain from my lower back all the way down to my foot in my left leg. Went to the hospital to get it checked out today. They did a ct scan and gave me a shot of anti-inflamatories and a perscription for motrin. The doctor there told me I pulled my sciatic nerve. She said it was due to my cp. Which I find hard to believe because it happens to those without cp too. What are your thoughts has this happened to anyone else?

" Started getting sciatic pain when I was training for running, racewalking event. Trainer taught me how to stretch & put affected side against wall & push hard to get pelvic halves back into place. Now, those regimens no longer work; so, just bear the pain, ice it & wait for it to go away in a day or 2. A lot of my non-disabled friends also get it & my method helps some but not others. Not much help I know; but your Doc seems to know what she is doing. "

" Hi Michelle, I to was born with a mild form of cp effecting mostly my legs, I have never had any testing for my siatic nerve but I know if i stretch or move wrong I can end up with pain from my lower back that runs down my leg. I am 47 now and have learned to live with all my aches pains. I know this probably dosent help much I know I just keep trying to live life to the fullest. best wishes to you! "

" Michelle, I have had sciatic pain the last month but then again so does my Sister in law and my brother and neither of them have
CP.. Maybe the doctor should have said CP may of made it more
likely to pull the nerve then most... Of course I know more people who have sciatic pain that don't have CP then do..

Rock on sister.. . did the motrin actually work? .. I'm sleeping better tried Tylenol PM works like a charm. =) "

" yeah the motrin seems to help. But the shot of anti inflamatory helped a great deal as well. The pain is not nearly what it was . "
