will i lose my ability to walk?

Hi. Im 21 years old I have what the doctor's call "very mild cp". I have always been able to walk, run, etc. Its just that my left side is a little weaker than the right side. Also I limp in the left side. However, lately I've been experiencing pain in my hip, knee and ankle joints. Ive been researching on the internet, but thats no help, I get 10 different statistics on patients that lose their walking ability from 10 different websites. I was just wondering if you guys have any experiences? Its kind of depressing to think about. Thanks guys

" Hi thatguy6, no, you probobly won't loose your ability to walk. however, we CP ppl do tend to get early onset of "old age" problems like arthritis and joint pain, because of the extra 'wear-n-tear' we put on our bodies. "

" I agree with bcas1971. It is therefore important to exercise as much as you are able so you limit those problems later on as you age. "

" Hi kid!! You say you have 'very mild' cp ls it leg (s) or 1 side like me , l have a 'weak L side. l believe what bcas is referring to is the fact that our 'normal' parts are overused & therefore wear out quicker. That happened to me. l exercise on an old cardioglide & an ellipticle trainer which exercises both sides l am very pleases w/increased muscle mass & the unexpected benefit of increased wind,& im a 57 yr old g-pa!
sry to ramble, hope it helps
God Bless "

" Can i ask if its your cp side that hurts or the other or both ?
My son offten suffers pain on the "good side"(his words not mine :) )
especially the shin and sometimes hip area, exercise and stetches help,. Docs say also he is only "mild" but he is only 9, so im guess all the stress in the non affected side does have to cause prblems later on ?
Cheers Cel "
