" It all has to do with your attitude

I always say that your handicap is only as bad as your attitude.
Life may be a bed or roses but with the rose we have to deal with the thorns as well. Our attitude will determine how well we deal with any kind of handicap. \ or problem. You can sit and cry in your beer or go out an be the best you can be. with what you got. "

" i find that cp can affect me differently as much time goes by. getting older with cp is not the same as without it. so, there are periods where i have to grief some losses with a professional or someone i trust. things that bothered me in particular, like not being able to do as much, being more affected by weather changes, or to change mobility aids, etc. at whatever age it affects me. this is not the same as feeling sorry for myself or giving up.

at the same time, i make sure to have a trusted therapist, friend and/or family member that knows me to help encourage moving forward when i need it.

with cp, i have to be learning again about many things. adaptation, for example choosing knitting as a hobby if i can't paint or take photos for now. patience when i remember to pace my activities, with planning accordingly to do fewer activities but maybe enjoy them more each moment; acceptance of what is and not fighting my body but working with it; appreciation of here and now, especially when change does happen in my past and future over time.

good luck, hope this helps. this took many years of learning, but remembering to love myself overall was the common denominattor in being successful to reach my goals. "

" Cewidder??? yr lucky to have a supportive fiance. We all get oldere & have probs. Some of us have a sense of entitalment. But most of us have a collision w/the real world. l've found to lean on the positives & correct as much of negatives as possible. I wear a splint on my 'bad' hand, & on the good when it's in danger of getting twisted . Lotsa ppl worse than me & l feel blessed

" I found out about my CP at age 46. I was always optimistic because I didn't know what it was I had so I would exercise each day and tell myself I would get better and stronger, although I did struggle but didn't know why. Now I know what it is I understand my struggles more and are more accepting of them but have to come to terms with the reality of it all now. "
