Something I have had a little trouble with since avoiding gluten is that I am not hungry. I rarely eat because I am hungry. I do it cause I know that its necessary for me to eat. I know that when people change their diets that this is a side effect. I am just wondering how long it take for the body to adapt and actually feel hunger again?
Its not that I dont eat cause I dont care for the food. I actually like a lot of what I eat and I dont over do it. Its been like 3 months and its not changing. I was just wondering if anyone can remember if they had this problem Pat Posted on 07/03/09, 03:07 am |

many celiacs have "non-gluten" problems with food.
IMHO, this is reasonable grounds to try a 4 day Rotation Diet, you can search this site for that, many posts in the Food Allergies group. it will help you identify both "non gluten" and "hidden gluten" problems. if you are satisfied that you have identified all of "your" food problems and are taking care of them, you may want to look at a way to make it easier to eat. everyone is different, what works for ME is BroccoSprouts http://www.broccosprouts.com/ these are not the same as "salad" broccoli sprouts. BroccoSprouts are produced under license from Johns Hopkins Medical Center, which developed them for medical use. the website has a lot of information on what they use them for, and also information on where to purchase them, many large grocery chains carry them. if you need to order them, they come in cartons of 3, which lasts me about a week. BroccoSprouts should be eaten raw, I use use about 2 ounces, or 1/2 box, a day. I put several tablespoons of them in a deep bowl, rinse them with cold water, shaking them under water to float off most of the dark seed covers (which I find irritating). I eat these while preparing my meal, with quite good effect by the time I am ready to eat, and I eat more as I finish my meal. they taste something like radishes. you can put them in other food, but don't cook them, and that might not be as effective as eating them shortly before your meal.

your avatar is a smoker,
BroccoSprouts have a number of actions on the body, I should mention that some of them are countered by AGEs http://www.dailystrength.org/c/Cel... in addition to "browned" foods, AGEs are found in smoke, so smoking (and barbecued food) may add to your problem.

Do you know if you are suffering from anemia? Digestive problems can affect your body's absorption of vitamins, and iron is one of them. I tended to be borderline anemic all the time before I changed my diet, and sometimes still am. When I am, the main symptoms for me are fatigue, headaches and poor appetite. Usually just taking an iron supplement for a few days would help me, but you should probably consult a doctor to verify whether that would be best for you or not.

This happened to me for a short while. I think it is because we are finally digesting the food we eat to get the nutrition we need. I was used to consuming 5000 calories per day and still losing weight. I seemed like I had totally stopped eating. I kept a food diary for a short time to see what I really ate when I allowed myself to eat because I was hingry. It is pretty surprising how little food we really need to eat.
Good luck C

I noticed this as well...makes people crazy, as I don't feel the need to eat when I'm gluten free.
