My husband, in the past 6mos, is having more and more difficulty seeing. He went to a second eye dr. and had the first one fill the lens prescription to see if the new exam would enable him to see better. He continues to lose the ability to see signs and certain things on tv. What should he do if an optometrist cannot help him? He wants his primary dr. to tell him to see an opthamologist before he will make an app't, he is most stubborn and wasting precious time as far as I am concerned. He was told he is at the very beginning of cataracts and I wonder if it isn't much more advanced then he was told. I would appreciate the benefit of others' experience, right now!

FYI, my husband just found out he has rapid onset cataracts and is having surgery immediately. All this is the time space of a few months: dr. said this is not the eldery person type disease, which is slow onset, but as in a younger person in whom the course of the disease is very fast. You just never know in life what life will throw at you when you look in the mirror in the morning, lol...grin and bear it!
