Two Days Post Op and Glasses Broke

I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I just had cataract surgery on my right eye a couple of days ago and am scheduled to have the left eye done in four weeks. My vision is being adjusted to allow me to see close up as apposed to distance. I see very well 18-24 inches ahead, but anything closer or further away is blurry.
I plan on getting multi-focal contacts after everything settles down and am using my glasses in the interim. My glasses broke yesterday and can not be repaired. I don't know what to do at this point. The eye that just had surgery is now a different prescription than it was prior to surgery. I can't get a new lens for 30 days because my vision will still be changing until it has completely healed. I don't want to buy a brand new pair of glasses since I will be changing to contacts and my overall prescription will be different after I've had both eyes done. I was wondering if it would make sense to get one contact ( for my left eye ) now ( knowing it would only be until I've had surgery on it in a month or so ) and then get the second one when my right eye has completely healed. I was thinking that if I were to get a multi-focals for my left eye it would compensate for the right eye which only allows me to see close up. I've heard of people getting two different lens, one for distance and one for close up. I apologize if this sounds confusing .... I'm open to any suggestions. Thank you, Chuck :- ) Posted on 06/28/09, 11:06 am |
