I had cataract surgery April 21, 2008, I could read licenses plates and street names on the way home, I am having trouble now, I have a lens for distance, I was out driving today and I noticed i have trouble reading st. names now and licenses, its like double vision, I see good close up and 3 or 4 ft away but the distance is like shadowed,or double letters, I called the doctor but he has not called me back and the office is closed.
I have had a bad cough, could that be what did it? I hate to go through that again. thanks, Joyce Posted on 05/01/08, 10:05 pm |

Everything is back to normal again today, I went out driving and no more double vision, so relieved. I don't understand why that happened, Joyce

Joyce it could be just part of the healing process. It could also be scaring scarring? My mom goes back in two weeks to make sure there isn't scarring to mess with her vision.

When I had my first surgery, my doctor said my vision might not be as good as it would be for a few days because the eye had to heal. Within a couple of weeks I had 20/20 vision. By the way, take time to notice the colors you can see now. They're amazing!

Before you go through it again ever, I have info on natural cures that would help.

foxysdad that's just what my mom said on the way home after her first eye, LOOK AT HOW GREEN IT IS... I was just laughing. But I do get it. Go from not seeing much of anything other than shadows to seeing everything. It's really hard to get used to seeing her walking around without glasses, the only time I ever seen her without them was when she was sleeping.

My mom was released to drive the next day as well... As long as she felt she could see well enough to drive that is. She had a cataract removed and another correction made at the same time in surgery.

I can relate to seeing the bright colors after surgery. Keep in mind that with the cataracts all you see is shadows is like an overcast day. A foggy day where visability is only one foot ahead of you. Or you can compare it to putting a sheer curtain on your face. After the surgery everything is clear as a clear sunny day. How much we take for granted. After my intracular lens surgery, it was like seeing things for the very first time. I loved all the colors as well. Everything looked even more beautiful.
