When you had your surgery what did they do?
Did they remove your lens or just the cataracts? What was your sight like afterwards? Posted on 02/05/08, 10:02 am |

My mom is having her first eye done tomorrow. They are removing her lens and blasting the cataract out with laser then replacing with a new lense. My best guess for a new lense is for better eyesight.

Well it's two days after mom had her first eye done. She can already see a HUGE improvement and can see pretty well. She's seeing 20/30 in that eye now. In two weeks she'll get her other eye done.. She was reading street signs all the way home.. Talk about a long hour drive.. LOL...

Don't be afraid, it was nothing, I have had two, one in 2002 and I did not feel a thing, it just took about 3 min. and I still have 20/20 six years later, I had the other eye done april 21 st. and it was the same, 3 min in surgery. I could read the street signs on the way home and licenses plates, I had no vision before that, I let it go for so long I I could not see anything, its really so easy. nothing to worry about. Joyce

I agree my mother said it was the easiest thing she's ever done, and the BEST. She too was reading street signs all the way home, confusing me.. LOL...
She has GREAT vision and no longer wears glasses. Can I just say STRANGE. I have NEVER seen my mother go without her glasses EVER!!!! It's soooo hard to get used to seeing her without them on.

I haven't had surgery yet, but I can tell you that they do remove the lens (the cataract is in the lens--there's no way to remove the cataract by itself) and replace it with an implanted artificial lens.
