Hi, Laura
I'm a new member and have finally found out how to make a post. Anyway, here is a some information for you. There is a program called Hillburton that is administered by the Federal government. It offers reduced or free care to those in need. Here are two links for you to find out more: http://www.hrsa.gov/hillburton/comp... http://www.hrsa.gov/hillburton/hill... From what I understand, this is a good, legitimate program. Let me know what you find out.

if you have lost your job apply for medicaide. if they turn you down appeal it and fight for it with all you have. vocationa rehab will pay for lazer surgery. contact your state office for assistance. call vocational rehab also. i lost my job 4 months ago and i applied for medicaid and they were real helpful. vocational rehab will try to keep you in the work force. you can have medicaid and also insurance from your job. the insurance has to pay first. that way if you loose your job you would still have medicaid. in indiana you can have both and still make 2800 a month. call them asap!

The only thing about medicaid..
It follows the same rules as Social Security and Medicare 1. assets have to be under $1,500/mo total household income, so like, if your husband or whoever yer living with makes more then $1,000/mo, forget it they don't give you a DIME. If you do fall in poverty levels though, you can apply for Social Security disability, but it takes 6 months to get. I'm currently applying for it, because i lost my job in April, and Vocational Rehab is sending me back to school full-time, because any job I can do requires a college degree, so their paying for me to get additional college training right now but in the meantime, I'm flat broke, other then what my wife makes, and that goes for her car, car insurance, things like that, and she only makes $7 an hour, but because she is working, Medicaid wouldn't pay a DIME to me, so I stil don't have insurance. I think alot of people are quick to recommend Medicaid, hospitals and doctors included, but what they don't understand, is you gotta be literally in poverty with no assets whatsoever before they let you get it. Its stupid, I am nearly completely blind, and fall way under STAT blind category, yet I can't get a DIME because of my wifes income, drives me nutts. and I can't go on her insurance because it would cost her $500 / mo to do that. THe medicare place when I was denied, asked me why I didn't sign up for my wifes insurance, I told 'em I said "we can't afford $500 a month for insurance". they just said "well she makees $1,200 a month, why not?" i said "because thats BEFORE TAXES MAN" (sighs) my mortgage alone is $400 and they think we can make it on $1,000 with 3 people in the house with only my wife working? I don't think so!! the Medicaid system SUCKS!

Try Eye Care America at eyecareamerica.com if you are over 65. You get a free eye exam, only. Then try Mission cataract, they have a one day free eye surgery, you have to sign up and be first come basis. That sign up starts in March of every year. Go to mission cataract.com to see where there is a doctor in your area. Good luck. Also try unitedway.com to see if there are other places.

I cannot afford he "over-age" charges above what Medicare pays. That means I go without the surgeries. All the gov't. systems all have income limits, and my wife and I come in HIGH. And she would even be too high if she eivored me - with her pension. And my family thought they could "spend down" my backup funds --without my knowledge. One Daughter is an attorney -but an ignorant one at that. I learned too late to go to Court. I was told by charities to "write to eye specialists" for "sliding scale" costs --NO GOOD word!Has anyone results with the L-Carnosine liquid? I am curious
