My 17 year old daughter has carpal tunnel in her right wrist. she is wearing a brace. Doc said to take 1 aleve twice a day.

She has to get an EMG test. She broke her wrist when she was 12, so doc said it prolly caused this. She might have to get fluid drained off of it.

I was thinking she should take 2 aleve twice a day. I guess too much can be harmful.

" Hi, I am new here, too. Doesn't look like a lot of activity, though. I was just (officially?) diagnosed, so to speak. I had had a couple of other doctors tell me I had cts, but really didn't have the resources to do anything about it then but take over the counter medicines.
If your daughter wants to take 2 aleve with the first dose, then one later in the day, as the instructions suggest, then you can add tylenol and ibuprofen throughout the day, keeping in accordance with those dosages. Example: If I take 2 aleve at 6 am, I may take a couple of ibuprofen at 8am and then take tylenol at ten if needed. But then don't take the ibuprofen again for about four hours (approx. noon) and the tylenol for about 4 hours (about 2 pm, if regular strength). And so on until taking another aleve about 6 pm at night. I have never had to take this many over the counter meds, and of course play on caution side, and take into consideration any sensitivities she may have regarding the meds, her age, current prescription meds, etc., and your best friend will always be your family's pharmacist. He/She may say taking 2 twice a day is fine. And as a mom you probably already know this, but some folks will take a handfull of one med and not alternate and tear their stomach or their liver to pieces.
BTW, I broke both my wrists in two seperate incidents less than a year apart when I was 12 and 13. My right hand, the dominant one is the worst, but I will have to have surgery on both. "
