Whoa dear! When I went they told me that I would be awake but they would use a "local anesthetic" and that I wouldn't remember it. What they really meant was that they would give me something through and IV that would make me VERY drowsy. I wanted to watch, but it's like I just fell asleep and then they told me that they were through and I could get up and go get dressed. I was knocked out once before for a tubal ligation. It was the "after" that was so very different between the two. Local = sit up, stand up, walk back to your changing room and get dressed. Under = a good 3 hours of "Wake up, Wake up, Wake up" then sleeping another 6 hours after I got home!
So, I never saw a knife. All I saw was an IV and an ink mark they put on the hand that was going to get the surgery. Afterwards I got dressed and left and went out for breakfast! Easy dear, it'll be okay! Let us know how easy it was afterwards!

Surely you can get this done under a general? Speak to your doctor about it. I believe 50% are done this way.
If it helps you can't see what they are doing. They should have a screen. What about a mild sedative before-hand?
