Hello everybody. I am Suzanne aka puffy1976. As everyone here, I am going through a tremendous amount of stress caring for my mother. She has Parkinson's and can't walk at all or do any of her ADLs by herself. She also suffers from dementia. She has been in either the hospital, nursing home, or step down hospital since Christmas Eve 2011. She has come home a few times but the longest was 2 weeks before she would have to go back to the hospital... usually for another UTI. In the nursing home she broke her clavicle and then later her hip when they put her in a geriatric chair after doping her up on medicine. I am pleased to join your support group. Thanks for having me.

" Sounds like you and your Mom could benefit by getting Hospice in. "

" Hospice isn't the answer unless she is terminally ill. Please keep us informed as to how you and your mother are doing. How are you coping with the nursing home issues? We had a nursing home almost put my mother's mother in a diabetic coma. There are good ones and bad ones aren't there. Take care. "

" I agree, I probably couldn't get her in hospice. My grandmother was in hospice when she was dying of cancer but that is different of course. I didn't have such a good experience with the nursing home as I have previously written. Also, I would lose my house due to Medicaid taking over since she used all her days. Thanks for your input and welcome.- Suzanne "
