My Dad is 86 years old.He is extremely healthy, very active, still driving and eating a healthy diet.Lately he has been laid low by recurring muscle aches and pains.I made an apponitment for him with a rheumatologist and am just wondering what other peoples experiences are with controlling arthritis pain. Are there any particular medications that you know of that work really well?Do they all cost alot of $$$$?Are they all addictive???

Although it is very very hard on the stomach, Voltarin is about all that will work for my husband. Doctors don't like to prescribe it because of the digestive trac problems, but he can't do without it. It's not expensive, and it's not addictive. I think your father's doctor will have a lot of good information for you, so taking him to the rheumatologist is just what the doc prescribed. Let me know what they put him on. I'd be interested.
