Paraphrased some of the better ideas from "What Color is your Parachute?"
Question: jobs in my field have disappeared What should I do? Answer: look for related jobs through whatever supplies, equipment or support services you utilized in your previous job. Question: what kind of things would a new employer be looking for? Answer: your traits, how you go about handling things... time, your emotions, dealing with authority and supervision, how impulsive you are and how you handle a crisis.... Question: what if an interviewer asks me how I would handle a certain situation; what kind of response are they looking for? Answer: they may be looking to see how you think...what's your mental process? Do you see a glass as half empty or half full? Q: should I ever boast about my skills on an interview? A: at your own risk. Giving tangible proof is better. Think of the top skills you have for the particular job you're after. Then beforehand, map out a description of how you made use of the skills and the successful outcome. Q: what if I don't trust my self-perception? A: Ask people who know you and who your work for a top 10 list Posted on 10/25/09, 11:10 am |
