I found out yesterday that I have a carcinoid tumor in my bowel. I have not been diagnosed with Carcinoid syndrome, and my appointment w/my Dr is next week. The reason why I am scared is that I have flusing and that is why I went to the Dr. I didn't suspect or even thought about carcinoid although I had one removed years ago through an incidental find.

My question is this: Do you think it is likely that I have Carcinoid Syndrome because of the flushing? I get severely hot and sweaty from the neck up. This is provoked from hot climates usually, but it is very uncomfortable. I have googled just carcinoid and flushing but it keeps pulling up Carcinoid Syndrome. Is it possible to flush with just carcinoid? Could it be something entirely unrelated. I am only 35 and I am having to go through the weekend with no answers.

Thank you,
Jen

" I just read your post from April. I was diagnosed with Carcinoid in 2006 but have had the carcinoid syndrome since 2002 with the flushing. For the past year I have had excessive sweating along my hair line (back of neck and scalp). I give myself a shot of Octreotide and it goes away immediately. The way I understand it is that if you have the "syndrome" it means that the carcinoid has mets. Few Doctors have had any patients with this so you must get yourself to a specialist. I went to New Orleans to find my group of Doctors as we didn't have any in Texas. You are in my prayers. "
