I know there are too many of us on this site, so I wanted to share some resources. Finding information about this cancer can be difficult, but my first recommendation to anyone dealing with this is to try to find a neuroendocrine oncologist. A regular oncologist usually doesn't have the expertise to deal with this.
This is a site for patients and caregivers: http://www.carcinoid.us/ This site provides medical information, a bit technical, and a list of specialists for carcinoid syndrome. My guy at Moffit is on this list: http://www.carcinoid.org/pcf/speci... Posted on 05/02/08, 01:05 pm |

thank you so much. those are both great websites which I sent on to my mom. Dad is the one suffering and he has to get his treatment at the VA. They're good but sometimes I worry about them being outdated. they're not doing anything about his diarrhea. he is so exhausted which may or may not be related to the cancer. he's dehydrated and lacking in several vitamins because of the diarrhea. I'm a medical assistant but I am limited in my knowledge. Any way I can help is great. Thanks again. Lisa

I read The China Study and it saved my life. Based comletely on scientific data and years of research, Dr. Campbell has really broken down how cancer does and does not thrive. I went off the sandostatin and switched to a non-toxic diet and now there is no sign of carcinoid for 2 years now and i get checked every 6 months. Of course, i'm not recommending anyone go off their meds but I strongly recommend reading this book. I used to hope i would make it to 50. But now i am looking forward to 90.
