Man, it's like 87% humidity in Seattle today, I can control it in the boat with a dehumidifier and keep it around 40% which I have read is just about the perfect % for healthy breathing and makes it much easier to live half way comfortably, but when I have to go outside for various reasons I am immediately smothered and go into a coughing jag, does anyone have any suggestions/solutions for being able to breathe in high humidity?

" All I can say Jona is "Grin and bear it" and use your inhaler or nebulizer a lot. I live on the other coast on the beach and our humidity is always over 85% except in winter when we get a few days with 60%. Luckily I'm use to it. I'm also on O2 24/7 and maybe the dry O2 going up my nose makes it bearable. I put up with it because I love the elevation - 0.

" Yea, humidity is not kind to us who have copd. It is all a huge learning process and finding new things to do to avoid humidity,
hot days, or extreme cold is sometimes challenging.
I have a room in my house devoted to arts and crafts to stay busy
with so I can stay inside and tinker with my toys when the weather
is not cooperative.
An exercise bike is always good, I decorated mine with streamers and girly stuff but one could also be "manned"up. I do goofy things like that, it keeps my spirits up when I feel isolated due to weather or whatever. "

" I have become a big believer in fans. Electric fans , battery fans, car fan on high, old fashioned hand fans- even with high humidity- the fan in my face makes it easier for me and less like I'm breathing soup. "

" I can't take extreme temperature changes either, so like leeny, I stay inside and tinker with my paintbrushes. It's also a good time to invite friends over who CAN take the hot or cold, or read some books. I live with lots of trees and I think they help keep our outside air healthier than most places. "
