I want to know if anyone takes Singulair? I was taking it until they said can cause suicide problems. I told my Dr. that I quit taking them and he got a little upset with me!
So now I will ask you all. Thanks! Posted on 12/01/08, 05:12 pm |

Hey lacie 2, You were asking about singular. I have been taking that drug for many years now and have never felt or had anything weird or bad happen. No suicidal feelings from that particular med.

Same response as to the Spiriva comment, maybe they were suicidal anyway. Pretty soon you are going to be afraid to take anything, lol.
In reality, you're questions are VERY VALID and I'm glad you are being so very through. If something is wrong with any of these drugs then we all want to know about it. P.S. I don't know anything about this drug. xxxoooshirleyxxxooo

I've been taking Singulair for several years now, and never noticed a problem. My doctor views it as one component of a comprehensive med schedule, especially if there are reactive or allergic airways involved. I'm not sure if it helps or not, but it hasn't hurt, either.
It's good to ask questions!

Apparently in the last year or so, some reports of suicidal thinking and at least one suicide which may be linked, have been recieved by the FDA. Merck, who makes it, has added some warnings to the material distributed with Singulair. There may be some lawsuits There is more information at:

Hii Lacie,
I have been using "singulair" for about three years, on high doses, and it has only had good effects for me and my lungs. I think it's irresponsible for your doctor to get mad at you when you told him how you were feeling, associating it with the singular. Surely he could prescribe a different corticosteroid for you. This would both alleviate your fears about this medication and perhaps even make your breathing easier! I do hope that's the case. Warm wishes from Ziggy

I have been on Singulair for about 3 years, it works for me, however I am switching to Montelukast, same thing just cheaper.

Hi Carol! Thought I'd add my 2 cents. I have been taking Singular for years. I have nothing but good to say about it. I tell you one thing though, I definitely know if I have missed a dose. What that means to me, is that it actually does do something.
Hoope this helps a bit. JoAnn

I was thinking about this and almost all medications have side effects..You can inform the dr. if you are having unusual problems but I would let him be the guide. I have used almost all drugs connected w/COPD and none of them have killed but the smoking almost did >>>:)
