I know there has been a lot of posts on Exercise already posted, and I know there have been some great video links too, I thought it would be great if we could try and build a thread for exercise videos that may be of help and assist us all, with the varying exercise tolerance abilities we all may have.
It would be great if we could all share those links in one easy to find thread. Here is one for starters - it is from the Sit and Be Fit videos by Mary Ann Wilson, this one is called: Sit and Be Fit - Balance & Fall Prevention: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UNv... Its important for anyone who is not exercising at all currently, or who has de-conditioned after illness please always speak first with your doctor before undertaking any new exercise program. When speaking with your doc about what may be a good exercise program for you personally do check also if you can access a pulmonary rehabilitation program as this is also a good place to start. I hope that we can all add to this thread with some manageable COPD exercise videos. Be safe, be mobile and breathe easy. Have a great day everyone. Peta Posted on 03/07/12, 07:39 am |

Its so important for us to keep moving, and its really hard when you have had an exacerbation and been sick and not moving much to get back in the swing of exercise.
Sometimes it feels impossible to do. This is good because it starts you slowly into moving again. The more me move the better our daily quality of life is. Thanks for posting this for us Peta, and encouraging us to keep moving. Love, Holly

I've been using the Gentle Fitness video for years, and never get tired of it. It's gentle stretching and strengthening exercises for people with chronic diseases, including COPD. And the instructor teaches you to use Pursed Lip Breathing with your exercises, so that you can eliminate breathlessness and increase oxygen use. There are sections on seated chair exercises, standing and lying down exercises, and self-massage. You can do the sections in any order, and do only what is easy for you. If my back is bothering me, I just do 2 sections that are chair exercises. You will see people of all abilities in the video, including persons using walkers, wheelchairs, and canes. You can check it out here:

Good Morning everyone.
Here are a couple of Videos I do myself from You Tube. Get started walking in your own living room with this workout by Leslie Sansone.: Walking - Part 1 - Start Quick and Easy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndVj... Walking - Part 2 - Burn Fat and Back it Down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8b4... I started with Part 1 and worked up to doing Part 1 and Part 2 one after the other. Part 2 also includes the cool down and stretches, so its worth viewing just to finish off your routine with these. Enjoy your exercise routine every one. Don't forget to check with your doc if you've not done any exercise for some time. Happy, easy breathing day all. Peta

Holly - thanks soooo much for posting all those links for us, they are just great. I have to say I find I like a good variety to choose from and as Sue says sometimes we don't always feel like a full workout so we shall have a great selection to chose from. Thanks for taking the time to share with us the Donna Wilson videos.
