I am so disgusted with myself. I don`t know what is wrong with me.
I am wearing a patch and since I was diagnosed with emphysema on 9-15-09 i have only smoked like 7 cigarettes. Why am I so obsessed with it occasionally that i let myself do it. I mean I was smoking a pack a day easy so I am doing an amazing job ( I know), but not good enough. Everyone that responded to me before, thanks for the support. I don`t type well and I`m not the most computer literate, but what I`m going through and the helpful, caring people on this site make me wish i was better at this. Posted on 09/28/09, 10:09 pm |

You are in the hardest part right now. Hang in a few more days and you will begin to feel better. Every day you don't smoke is a firm step forward. And when you really truly truly decide in your heart that you'd rather have the joys and health of being a non-smoker than one more cigarette, you will do it. In the meantime, do whatever you have to do, including tricking yourself, rewarding yourself, letting yourself eat copious quantities of your favorite comfort foods, and staying busy with fun activities with great friends - all non-smokers! Exercise can help, too. When that urge for a cigarette pops up, go walk around the block, clean the house, take a bike ride, whatever gets your blood moving.
Good luck!. We are all rooting for you. Let go of the self -disgust and love yourself for what you are doing. Smile and laugh. Breathe deeply. love, Joan

Man, the HARDEST time for me was about the 4-6 week mark. Once I got through that time, it was amazing how much easier it got. Maybe its a last ditch brain/nicotine connection.. who knows.
Don't beat yourself up- look how great you have been doing and just stay on track. We're all rooting for yo! Hugs, Lisa

Hey you are doing great!
The fact that it discusts you that you smoked one is a GOOD thing! It's getting thru to you. The next time you want one, think of this... Think how hard it has been to get to where you are, and ... are you willing to give up all that work just to have a puff or two more? It really helps. I walked away after 25 years just doing that. Good luck to you! You are helping YOU each time you say NO! Hugs Donna

I have copd and I smoke, I personlly don't see a lot of reason not to since the damage is done anyway, don't kick yourself if you want to quit you'll succeed I'm sure it's hard, but don't get to upset when you mess up everyone has there vices and I just don't think it's that big a deal they just demonize smoking out of proportion anyway.
