I never had a problem with it but have had a sore nose before
and found Neosporin to be helpful.
Even a tiny dab of vasoline will help.

Simple nasal saline spray can often help.

They make saline nasal "gels" that are better at moisturizing and soothing a sore nose. Example, "Ayr". Tend to be a tad pricey. and non-petroleum based.

You should never use a petroleum-based product anywhere on your face if on Oxygen Therapy. These products readily ignite in the presence of oxygen.

Wow, I had never heard that about petroleum products before!!! Thank you for sharing that. I have much to learn!!

My dads O2 generator has a part where you can add water (Distilled only absolutely no tap water) to add a moisturizing mist to the O2. It would be on the large part of the generator, or you can call them to ask if you can get one.

Never put petroleum jelly or petroleum based products like Vicks in your nostrils. Petroleum based products can cause lipoid pneumonia which is very nasty. This is why the label on these products state not to put it in the nostrils.

I use Ayr Gel. (I first heard about Ayr Gel from our dear Denny.) Ayr Gel is a water based gel you can use in your nostrils to soothe and moisturize the delicate tissue. Another product you can use is K-Y Jelly.

And, of course, as others have said, you can use saline solution.

Welcome to our group! I do not clip my hose to my clothes. Not sure how to even do that? I usually hold my hose in my hand as I travel around my home. I hate when it gets caught on something and tries to rip off my ears. So I've learned to carry less as I go about my day so I can hang onto my hose. I know it means more trips but it works for me. And yep, no petroleum jelly. K-Y works for me.

I use the Ayr gel when needed and love it. It is a bit pricey but a little goes a long way. Someone said they apply it with a q-tip because they use less that way but I haven't tried that.

I don't clip the hose to my clothes, though maybe I should because maybe it would cut down on wear and tear on my ears.

Well, I agree with everyone, so you have some great advice. Welcome to the group, and just take this one day at a time. I use the AYR Gel, and the saline mist, also a humidifier at night. Hope something works for you

Make sure to keep your cannulas clean and to replace them often - every 2 weeks. You can ask your oxygen provider for a humidifier which is a big help in soothing a sore nose. I ended up in urgent care with an infected nose and I was prescribed mupirocin 2 % ointment. This stuff is a live saver!!! When I feel sores coming on, I use it for a day or 2 and my nose is in great shape

Ayr gel is very good and they also make a saline nasal spray when your nose gets a bit congested. I use both. Denny turned us on to a great tip by securing your O2 hose with a clip on your waist either on a belt loop or a piece of loose clothing which alleviates that nagging pull on your ears every time you step on it walking around the house.
