I never had the skin test, but they verified my diagnosis with the blood test. The results did not take long, however, I had to have a couple sessions with a genetic counselor beforfe they would release my results to me.

Thank you for your reply
At first doctor told me I had MS. Some years later after another MRI scan she said it looked more vascular and sent me for a blood test for cadasil which came back negative. The doctor then told me she had a patients who had a negative blood test for cadasil but a skin test proved to be positive and as I have a family history with strokes she would send me for this test Now all I can do is wait Patsy

I think that waiting is the hardest part! Initially, my doctor thought that I had MS, too. I am fortunate that my neurologist in Charlottesville, VA has an active interest in CADASIL and has alot of information about it. Even though there is nothing yet that we can do to "reverse" anything, it is nice to actually have a doctor who really knows what is wrong with me.
