Hello,everyone!
2 years ago, I was in a kitchen fire and spent 7 days in the Burn Unit ICU, skin graft surgery, and physical therapy to regain the use of my hands. It was a scary time....I'm on here for two reasons - 1. to be a support system for anyone who needs to talk about their feelings while dealing with this and 2. because I've entered into a contest through Victoria's Secret called "why I love my body". I have posted pictures of my burn/skin graft post surgery and I discuss the growth and strength that came with this experience and the bravery I never knew I had. Like you all, I had to find my inner strength. I would love to see a burn survivor win a Victoria's Secret "why i love my body" contest. The prize is a spa weekend getaway to NYC (which happens to be my favorite place). I would really appreciate your votes..you can vote once a day until September 14th at midnight. I was encouraged to find a burns support group finally, but dismayed to see how little activity there is. Good for you, entering that contest. It is hard to get up and do things like that. I was burnt over 30 years ago. People often comment about me being brave enough to wear a swimsuit or work in a retail setting in front of people. The docs didn't think I would make it but God had other plans. :) Hang tough!

You are No Survivor...You are a CONQUEROR!!
My son lost half of each finger and had 88% of his body graphed. He is proud of his scares!! As he tells me," I walked though the fires of hell and lived to tell the tale." He had a 4% chance of survival...God had other plans for him too! Stay Proud!
