Just had to share my goal achievement. From birth, I had a goal of breastfeeding for 1 year. Well, TJ turned 1 yesterday and we're still going strong! I've obviously now extended my goal to 18 months since neither of us are ready to be done.

However, I will no longer pump at work. Although it's a wonderful feeling, I have to admit I was a little sad :)

Thanks for taking a moment to share in my excitement!

" Congratulations! I was thinking about pumping once instead of twice - my son's 8 months old and is eating max 5 oz while I'm at work and I produce almost 10. But I'm still sad to do this. I pump and then donate to someone local. But I think I will stop one pumping soon "

" Congrats!! My goal for now is 6 months, once I make it there hopefully I'll extend it to 12!!
I'm looking foward to the days when I won't have to pump at work...at my job it's such a hassle!! How unfair it is to allow smokers time to have their cigarette, yet a breastfeeding mother isn't allowed the same time to make food for her baby :( "

" Thanks everyone! It's a huge sense of accomplishment, but also a little sad. Oddly, I was really sad not to bring the pump to work today.

Turtlegirl, transitioning is actually fairly easy! I would just recommend reducing a pumping session each week prior to quiting all together. It gives your body time to adjust so you're not engorged. I actually went from 3 to 2 pumping sessions about a month and a half in advance. I knew I had plenty of milk in the freezer, and had to complete practicum hours during my work day, so there was no way I could continue with 3 sessions. It worked out fine for me, but it all depends on your supply, how much your baby needs and how much you have stored. "
