Hi, I do not know much about formula feeding. But a baby should generally double his weight at one year of age. Assuming that he was arond an average of 7 or so pounds when born, then 13 lbs at 2 mths is a lot.
I would think that 6 ounces in one feeding is a lot. I understand you are mixed feeding. Well, whenever he shows any signs of hunger, I would bf him first, to maximize his bm intake, and try to keep your production up. ALso, when you do give him his formula, then I would give it in a slow-flow, stage 1 bottle. I would also be sure to feed him the formula slowly, the same was as is advised to bottle feed a breast-fed infant: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping... THis will allow his brain to get the cues that his belly is already full. If he is downing his food, like someone who is eating fast, he is likely to overeat, and likely to suffer from obesity. It seems to me that if you really wnat, it is possible for yo to go back to exclusive bf, but most likely, yo would need the help of a lactation consultant at thsi point...mostly, to give you pointers and encourage on how to bf successfully, adn wean him off the formula. ANyway, here is a link on weaningfrom the formula, if you are interested: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/supply/... Hope some of this is helpful. Good luck!

my son is 9 months and 25+ pounds, and on the rare occasion he get a bottle, he can't even finish 4 ounces. He is mainly bf and now eats 3 meals a day, but he has never eaten more than 4 ounces at a time. Maybe you should check with your pediatrician.

it could be that your son is drinking fast before he realizes he is full he has ate too much. Does he seem uncomfortable after he drinks that much at all? You could try to give him 4 oz or so and wait for 20 minutes then see if he wants more. I agree with Franny though, I would breastfeed first if you can or giving him formula first is going to mess up your supply and you may end up weaning your body unintentionally.
In my opinion I think formula fed babies tend to pack on the weight more which isn't necessarily a good thing. A lot of formula fed babies also get a lot of constipation while BM keeps things movin along and is easier to digest. Just some things to think about :)
