" Don't you just love those drains? When they take them out I think they should put in a stitch to close the hole. Most doctors won't ,so as soon as possible put a butterfly bandage over the hole. This will help pull it together and hopefully leave less of a scar. "

" Congrats on getting through the surgery and you have my sympathy on the drains; although, I was confused by your writing "brains" until another reader clarified that. I had a delayed reconstruction, so I had one drain after the maastectomy and one drain after the first reconstructive surgery. I will have two after the second and final reconstructive surgery, because they will be working on both sides at that time and have only been working on one in the last two surgeries.

I found the drains to be the worst part of the whole thing. Not so much painful as annoying. And 4 drains! For heavens sake. I hope you have someone helping you with those. I was afraid of the fills, but I am happy to say that they have not been painful AT ALL. I am tolerating them perfectly well and only have a couple more fills to go before the long 3 month stretch to the finish line. (lol)

Best of luck to you - I hope you come through your reconstruction beautifully!

- Diane "
