i posted on here a few weeks ago.they thought my mum may have had breast cancer, she had it twice before, the last time in 1994.it turned out she was ok,it was just calcification from old age.
we were both so happy. now they think she might have cancer in her back. she had pain in her back about 3 months ago,for 4 days, and then it went away.she went for an MRI scan 2 months ago.2 weeks ago,she got the results and yesterday was given an appointment at the breast clinic on the 10 july. i can only think the cancer has come back, but in her bones. im so confused why she hasto go to the breast clinic.2 weeks ago they said she had no signs of cancer. i read on the internet sometimes people die in less than a year with cancer in their bones. im so scared and confused. i just dont understand any of it x Posted on 06/28/12, 12:06 am |

thankkyou for your reply
i spoke to my mums doctor this morning.he explained that because my mum has had breast cancer previously,as a formality she was being sent to the breast clinic,as that is what happens when somebody has a new fracture in there back. he said cancer is low down on the list of what might be wrong with her,and the fact that her biopsy was clear a few weeks ago is a good sign. so im trying to be hopefull xx

It's hard not to worry, but try to be as positive as you can. It sounds like it may very well be something else. All the best to you and your mum.

It is very common for breast cancer to spread to the bones in fact over half of women who survived breast have it in their bones when they die. That doesn't mean they die of the cancer in their bones though. If those are her only mets she could live for many years. My mother's BC came back in her bones and bone marrow first, but mets in her brain are what killed her and that was 4 years after the cancer showed up in her bones.
