Advice:
breast exam question

About a year and a half ago I had breast reduction surgery (they were extremely heavy and hugely disproportionate to my small frame). I don't know what I'm supposed to do now in terms of self breast exams . . . there is so much scar tissue that I just don't know what is supposed to be in there and what isn't. Any suggestions?

" I'm not a professional but I'd say be familiar with your normal scar tissue and you will know when something does not feel right. Also keep up with regular screenings. Welcome to the group. "

" Absolutely right! None of us knows what our breasts 'should' feel like until we begin doing the self exams. There are so many differences between women that doctors often do not know there is a problem until we tell them about it and literally point it out.

Your scar tissue certainly complicates matters but you will probably be the best one to determine how it should feel. Top that with regular exams and screenings and you should be fine. I'm sure your back is appreciating the break you gave it by having the reduction.

Take care of yourself and please feel welcome to our group.
