I approached today as if it were any other day...it's hard not to when you've been dealing with sick kids for 2 weeks, being run down yourself from the viruses and multiple wakings at night.  I started thinking about this year...this milestone that I have reached.  1 year cancer free!
Huge when you look at cancer statistics...most recurrence happens in the first year.  Every...

  • Update - About me

    Saturday, May 9, 2009

I just want to let you all know that I have been on DS for almost two years now.  When I first joined, I had recently been discharged from a two week stay at Two Rivers Psychiatric Hospital.  I have come a long way and thanks to Daily Strength, I was able to grow, learn, and share.  Knowing my triggers and Using Affirmations and Cognitive Therapy has been a big help in my recovery....

    Thursday, September 18, 2008 | A Positive story

As I watch our stock market tumbling I find myself feeling cynical, how did these folks get us IN to this mess!  I then remember one of the the coolest coolest things about my job....THE PEOPLE...I get inspired all over again and I have to think we will all be ok.  When I do talks in schools or community groups I tell kids about the long haul medicine entails&nb...

  • Retarded Grandparents

    Saturday, August 9, 2008

This was actually reported by a teacher.
After Christmas, a teacher asked her young pupils how they spent their holiday away from school.
One child wrote the following: we always used to spend the holidays with grandma and grandpa. They used to live in a big brick house but grandpa got retarted and they moved to Florida. Now they live in a tin box and have rocks painted green to look like grass. Th...

  • This Came to Me to Share

    Wednesday, December 24, 2008

As I lay in my near comatose state that I like to refer to as resting, this thought came to me.
The road we travel is long and winding. It goes up and down and through storms and periods of calm. We walk alone even with others we are alone. Monday, March 3, 2008 | A Positive story

The happy sounds of children laughing, the warmth of the sun, the perfection of yesterday's party for Destinee will provide me with happiness today and for years to come.  This was everything a child's birthday party should be.  Yes, it is sad that Evan was not physically there to enjoy it with us, but I have to make the best of what is and use that knowledge to go forward in li...
