I never felt protected by my stbx and he was a cop for the last 18 years. lol

Well, that sucks. I always felt very safe. Well, almost always.

I know what you mean, Jo. Mine was 6'5" tall and made me feel protected and even petite (until he became Mr. Major Asshole). I've learned over time that I can protect myself and I'm happy for that.

It's a sad realization for me because I've always been treated well, and had no problem believing what I was told. Now, I wonder if I'll ever get that back. Pity the man who has to deal with me I guess.

We went on a cruise together. I won't get into specifics but while in Jamaica, he didn't do shit to get us around safely. I finally put my bitch face on and got us out of there. When the ship stopped in Mexico, I refused to go with him. I didn't feel safe with him.

I travel by myself now all the time and feel safer than I did when I was with him.

I don't feel very safe with my husband either. I've always had to be the one to make sure the car doors were locked, the garage door was down and the house was secured. He would say he'd do it but then wait and fall asleep before he did. When we were separated, I told my kids they would have to make sure the door was locked when they stayed with him.

Good God. You girls are making me so sad. I guess I've had it pretty good.
