I listened to this podcast about what goes on in somebody's brain after being dumped. Part of the podcast presented a technique where the test subjects distract themselves by counting backwards by 7's from 2000. It seems that 40 seconds of distraction are enough to calm down the neurons that make us feel so bad when we get rejected. Also, the podcast recommended not being friends with your X for at least 3 years after a break up. I hope this helps!

Counting backwards by 7's from 2000? I couldn't do that on a good day. Would I be able to use a calculator or pencil and paper?

It has got to be hard to not be friendly with your ex for 3 years if you have children together
