Hey I got a concussion nearly seven weeks ago and apparently i'm still showing alot of symptoms. So after i took a test, which i failed many aspects of, my doctor wants me to get an MRI of my brain. What are some things they might be looking for?

Did you get an MRI done at the time of the accident? They could be looking for any sign of insult to the brain or actual brain damage. You should have the test done, if you are showing signs/symptoms of any type of brain injury! It should have been done to statt with, but alot of times the injury is not evident until hrs to days after the incident.
Take care! nsm

They look for brain shearing, tearing, bleeds. Unfortunately most TBI are microscopic and do not show up on MRI, x-ray etc. Good luck, I hope things clear up for you and soon.

I had a mild TBI and when they did a MRI years later nothing was found...unfortunately I never got a CT/MRI at the time of my injury (stupid docs!!!). But I still experience alot of symtoms of my TBI, it's called PCS (post concussive syndrome). Sucks but I've been slowly recovering, though I am NOWHERE healed completely and I don't believe I will ever but it does get better with time. Anyway, good luck!

I am not sure what they should be looking for, but just thought I would share this resource that I just found at the library--a book called Coping With Mild Traumatic Brain Injury by Diane Roberts Stoler and Barbara Albers Hill. I think it may help you with the stigma most people with mild TBI face and to identify other complications you may be experiencing. I have had a moderate TBI but found this book very helpful. In the book they suggest finding out about your physician's experience with treating people with MTBI's--how much of their practice is devoted to treating MTBI patients and how many cases they have been involved in the past year...Hope everything goes well and you get the info/help you need!

Rusalka, I have that book! It's really fabulous and helped me understand my TBI after it happened and helped me ease out of denial.
