Physical ailments too

Is anyone else suffering from any physical ailments from the TBI? I cannot really move my arm still and my leg's just not 100% back from the hyperextension, but I feel like no one is going through that stuff too and I feel like everyone has given up on me or forgotten about me (doctors and therapists). I just don't know what to do anymore.

you should really still be seeing a physio therapist at he least. I kept on seeing one as long as I had problems. I still have some issues but more so with my balence etc and I have just accepted this. I also have some issues with doing exercises that can hurt my back. As I broke some bones in it, luckily only small ones and not the spine. I just work around them now. Do see if you can get some more physio therapy. You sometimes have to remind them that you still need help. Speak up for yourself and I hope you get the help you need. Good luck

I often felt that the physical parts of my injuries were worse than the brain injury. But that's probably because of the terrible pain.
I think my Drs focused heavily on my rehab for my brain and were mostly concerned about my brain. That's understandable, but I feel I didn't get as much treatment for the pain and physical problems. So, I share that to say, I'm with you. You'll have to keep pushing for help, Alyssa, and have them try different things. And then you'll have to experiment on your own with physical activity and perhaps some supplements to see what things are helpful. There's definitely no "one size fits all" with these injuries, so, unfortunately, you kind of have to figure it out on your own.

I feel as if my legs do there own thing walking sometimes. Sort of disconnected. But do have spine injury and both knees have been operated on. Right knee is wrecked, sugeon who does knees only, and operates on our olympian team had a bad day. Were all human, just one of those things that can happen. And balance is shall we say better but still not good because hairs in ear got damaged in second tbi and they cant fix them. lot to do with our balance. had rehab.good as its going to get. But many are worse off sadly.

My son gets absolutely nothing in the way of physical therapy; except for what I do. He has regained his left side but his right side is still not moving right. Although he is progressing it's not "fast enough" for anyone to have the patience to work with him. The last PT he saw acted like all he wanted was to be able to work with people who he didn't have to use much effort on his own part...just keep moving what you can. I got on Amazon and purchased books on PT, OT and speech and am learning as much as I can on my own- it's the only way my son will get any therapy at all. Keep pressing forward and don't give up - determine to get as much as you can yourself.!

I hurt like hell most of the time. Putting on my underwear and pants hurts like hell in the morning. If I sit too long it takes a minute or two to regain my balance. Going up and down stairs are usually impossible. After 4 years I can lift my right arm above my head but it hurts. Headaches! I often find myself lying in my dark bedroom with no noise to overcome them. I am tired of hurting! Doctors and therapists and medications don't help, IT IS UP TO YOU!

Hi Allysa,
I look perfectly normal.... I think? But I still have some numbness and weakness to my entire left side. I feel like you could draw a line down the center of my body, and be pretty precise on the area that is numb and weak. I would say that you will continue to see improvement as the years pass. Nothing seems to improve overnight with TBI. It sure does take a lot of patience! I think many times others are impatient as well. Just don't give up on yourself. I'm sorry you are experiencing this feeling. I hope this improves for you over time. Peace! SSE

My physical symptoms and the way i address them are so weird, i can't even describe them here. I think i'm going to have to make a video because the collection of physical symptoms I have kind of present on a 24 hour clock, and i do best when i do certain maintenance things, also on that 24 hour clock.
They include head pain in several areas, neck pain, and this 'brain noise' that never stops and feels painful and interrupts my sleep in the early hours. My symptoms are much less now, as they were intense for 12 years until NeuroCranial restructuring released the way my neck and skull were locked up. The hardest part is knowing that it's likely more NCR procedures would reduce my symptoms more, and if I could have those procedures done now, i'd be more comfortable right away, but i have no support and little resources.
