Seeking TBI survivors like myself

Greetings,
my name is Jonathan, i am 32 y/o. less than a month after turning 24,
I was hurt very bad. In the back seat not wearing my seatbelt, I was ejected through the soft top of a jeep and hit the highway. My scull broke open which began a 17 day coma.

Eight years have passed since my brains spilled onto the road (description to help me smile). I feel life in all of me now, joy in who I am. The person I was before died that day, but what's good is bad,
and bad is good. I am so much more now than I ever would have been
had I not suffered.

Often I feel lonely as I am high functioning which even more shrouds the at times the intensity and obsessions in my mind. Sometime after the accident, I made the choice to not be defined by what happened to me.
With this at times, my lack of etiquette or different behaviors outside life's oatmeal causes others to repel from me. This hurts my feelings.

This is who I am though, there is nothing wrong w/ me. .

" Welcome Jonathan, I'm not here much but i do check every day.. fortunately, I'm doing pretty well in recovering my life but it's taking a lot of time lately. This group is wonderful though, I feel at home here, these are just awesome people - i do hope to contribute more in coming days. "

" Welcome. I think we all know the feeling only too well. I was lucky as the basis of my injury only affected my motor skills. I have still experienced a solitary feeling as a lot of people backed away just because it made them realize how easily it could have been them. Even though my accident wasn't near as long ago as yours I can say it does slowly get better when you put a lot of work into it. It still may hurt from time to time when people leave but you wouldn't be normal if it didn't. By normal I mean normal for the average TBI survivor. Honestly, I know no matter how hard I work there will always be evidence of my TBI. In a way I like having that knowledge as I still want people to realize of struggle. I hope you find the support you are looking for here. "
