It will be six years this december since they found the tumor that over time I nicnamed Agnes. According to 6 neurologists and one neurosurgeon it doesnt cause enough shit in my day to day life that it needs to be removed. I remind them, sometimes not so polietly that the damm thing is the reason I have not so good balance (on a bad day it sometimes looks like I have been beat), my short term memory is non existent, myopic tics plague my limbs and now the blackouts are back and they can no longer, once again, get the migraines under control. But still it doesn't cause enough day to day shit to get them to even continplate taking Agnes out. I had my bi yearly MRI two days ago and from the Cscan results in May I would swear the damm thing has grown but I have to sit patiently and wait for the doctor to call me back with the results and let me know if yes a new neurosurgeon is willing to see me. I live in a city above +80,000 and find for the most part the medical profession remains with their heads up their collective asses

Thanks for the vent

" I understand the waiting. My son was discovered to have brain tumors in 2004. After 2 craniotomies, a stent placed, and a 5 1/2 week treatment with radiation, he is doing well, But there is still a sizable inoperable tumor (because of location) and several small ones that are still there. (They are called subependymoma. Every 3 months I get on edge as he has another MRI done and we trek off the the neurologist/oncologist for the results. Luckly, he has no symptoms at this point. But I worry because we could walk into the clinic feeling fine and hear that the inoperable tumor has grown - and there are no more options for treating it. Removal is out of the question because the surgery carries and extremely (almost certain) risk of destroying the quality of his life.

My opinion for you would be to get one or more additional opinions. There are many major medical centers in US (I don't know where you're from) that specialize in this type of thing. My son is treated at Mayo Clinic in rochester. The tumor is obviously afffecting your quality of life and I don't find it acceptable to just let it be there - UNLESS removal (because of it's location) would cause more serious side effects than you're having now.

Waiting is hard - it stinks! "

" tell the doctors how much you appreciate them basically letting you go.

I always thought the reason anyone wanted to be a doctor was SAVE PEOPLE.

maybe they need a new profession. "
