First off I would like to say hello to everyone and thank you in advance for your support. A little background, I am a 26 year old with a rather large tumor growing from my ribs.

I first noticed the lump 3 years ago, however I thought it was simply a pulled muscle as I was shoveling snow all day. A year later it was still there so I went to the Dr. who didn't think it was anything, ran no tests, and sent me on my way. A year later I thought it had grown and had started to ache so I went back. This time I had a CT done and it revealed a rather large tumor growing on my ribs. I'm sure large is realative but the tumor is about 2x4 inches and advisably protrudes from my rib cage.

After my initial CT I had a CT guided biopsy performed and the results were analyzed at the Mayo clinic. Apparently, there were some "abnormal cells" identified and the Mayo clinic recommended surgery to remove everything. I'm actually scheduled to meet with a thoracic surgeon on Tuesday. My Dr. is not being clear with me on what exactly is going on and has already told me has never seen a case of this and I have to talk to the surgeon. From everything I have read and the little I know from my biopsy is that I may have Chondrosarcoma. The only thing I know for sure is that I will need to have surgery.

I'm confused, scared, and angry at this situation...and honestly just lost and not sure what to do. What does surgery consist of? Will I have to miss substantial amount of work? Like I said I'm lost....
