Hi I am new to this group,
I have been having vision problems for well quite a few years now but didn';t want to tell my doc because I was afraid he would pull my license again. I have epilepsy and have had my drivers license pulled way to many times it recent years. I see shadows like squares and blotches, stars sometimes, smearyness around lights like when you have been swimming for a while and your eyes get fuzzy, my vision jitters up and down like my eyes or the world is vibrating, I don't think either are though and I have trouble focusing on people and have to keep refocusing my eyes and looking at different angles. Oh and it feels like puffs of pressure in my eyes alot like they want to explode in spots, just poof pressure then its gone then poof pressure. Like little twinkles of pressure all over my eyes. My doc sent me to the optomitrist for a full check and she only saw a stigmatism and a bit of far sightedness (very minor) both of which I already have glasses for. She just suggested I wear my glass more often to help with the strain. I get I pain like my eye muscles are strained and then sharp head pain or a full on headache. Anyway, my friend is legally blind...he has about 3 percent vision in one eye, so he has a seeing eye dog and all. When he heard of my eye trouble he strongly recommended I see my doc about it. He also taught me how to walk down and up the stairs without tripping, sometimes I trip on the middle stair..don't know why..when my vision is bad I can trip on the second stair, it is like my preception is off. So does anyone else have this? And what is a neuro opthamologist? I have epilepsy that started after an injury and fibro and chronic back (scoliosis) and a heart condition that only bothered me once, it acts up a bit now and then but my doc hasn't checked on it again so it must be fine. The vision started after the injury (car accident that caused back pain), it worsens with back strain. Does anyone know why this happens, i am sure it is nothing but should I be concerned? A neuro Ophthalmologist is a specialist that specializes in how the brain interprets what your eyes & optic nerves send to it. They also may bring in an endocrinologist. Which also involves the brain & hormones particularly involving the pituitary gland. they are very close to the optic nerve & may be pinching the optic nerves. Only a doctor can tell you for sure though. I hope this gives you a little better idea of what you may be dealing with. As i said before only a doctor can tell you for sure.
