Okay! I am COMPLETELY new here. I just barely sighned up like 5 mintues ago. My best friend has stargardt's disease. I know theres no current cure for it right now. I'm not exactly sure what it is. All I know is that this is making her blind an she can barely see. She is very depressed because of this, as would anyone. She is only 15 and I am 16. I'm just wondering about information for her. Is there ANYTHING she can do at all?

ONE THING THAT CAN HELP IS EXTRADARK SUN GLASSES WITH UV RAY PROTECTION.
Current research also shows that patients with Stargardt's disease could slow its progression by wearing UV-protective sunglasses and avoiding exposure to bright light. SPECIAL RED LINSES WOULD CUT DOWN OR MAYBE CUT OUT ALL BAD LIGHT BUT THIS DOES AWAY WITH SEEING COLORS..BUT DOES PROTECT THE EYS AMD SLOWS DOWN THE PROGRESSION OF THIS EYE CONDITION

Good vision is very important when driving . As you know it is a requirment that you pass a vision test to get a drivers license. If you can not pass it, you can not drive.
So i guess you will need to be a very good friend and drive her places a lot. There are many people who can not drive for one reason or another. People just have to learn to adapt to their limits in life.
