diagnosis runaround

Started losing my vision in Dec 2007 - been to lots of doctors, lots of appointments, lots of referrals, tests, etc and not one can figure out why.
I've had 3 different docs in the last month tell me verbally that I'm at the point of being legally blind from the visual field aspect - not acuity. But the optometrist and opthomologist both say that the "specialist" on the case should be the one to write the diagnosis statement of being legally blind. The optho-neuro specialist says he won't write it until he finds a cause. I said, its nothing more than a report on my current visual field and acuity and he said that's for an optometrist to figure out - like it's beneath him.
I have been approved for SSDI based on "visual disturbance" as my primary impairment - not blindness. I'm trying to get some help through the commission for the blind, but they need a diangnosis statement.
I'm getting real sick of going to appointments - the copays, trying to find a ride, the wasted time and headaches. Any suggestions for getting what should be a simple diagnosis?

" i am so sorry you are having to go through all this trouble and stress. my suggestion would be to look up dr stephen foster and try to see if he could do anything for you. he has been featured on mystery diagnosis and has been treating me for 2 years. in the meantime i would keep a careful list, if possible, of your symptoms and how your vision is daily. if you need any help with some research i would be happy to assist.. all my best - lindsay "
