Advice:
Pale Optic Nerves

My son suffered a stroke within 24 hrs. of birth and the result is pale optic nerves. it's kinda like a short in a wire. One minute you know what you are looking at and the next you don't.
Is there anyone out there that has delt with this? Here we are 12 yrs. later and still working on some of the same things as we did 11 yrs. ago. Example: Teaching his the 3 letters in his nickname MAX, sometimes he can reconize them and sometimes he can't. He's never learned to write anything or barely scribble. He shows no interest in it, because he disconnects from the task. We think mostly because it's to hard for him. He sometimes can look at me and act like he's not sure who I am and then you see a click and he is sure of what he's seeing. It's so frustrating! Along with this he also has right sided heminopsia, depth perception problems, and farsightedness (we think). Then of course he's got multiple other issues and mainly he's MR. We think that because he can't see or remember on command, that his cognitive scores are much lower than they should be. You can see in his eyes when he's connected that he want's so badly to tell you everything, but can't make that happen before it's lost again.

anyone else who's going threw or has delt with this, I would love to talk with you.
Take care,
Dar
