I had the above operation during May 2005 and was wondering if anyone else has experienced any discomfort such as a windy colic pain?
This pain eases when I lie down with a hot water bottle on my stomach, I had thought it would have disappeared after I had my Gall Bladder removed last month Augusst 2008,but "IT" is still with me!! Any comments would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Joan Posted on 09/08/08, 10:09 am |

Hi Joan. When a radical cystectomy is done it involves doing some work with the intestines and they basically need to be rearranged a bit Intestines are finicky, don;t like to be messed with. They just like to eat. Anyway, after a while sometimes adhesions (the intestines sticking or adhering to themselves as they loop around) and this can cause kinks resulting in pain of different kinds. It is common with this type of surgery. The fat that the pain eases when you lie down may indicate that it is postural, that is, whatever is going on is aggravated by standing. Heat can also reduce inflammation so you may well have a bowel problem, not necessary a big problem though. I would check with he doc who did your RC and perhaps with a gastorenterologist. I had something similar after a colon resection. It cleared up but comes back now and agian. Hopethis helps.
