I am a 55 y.o. male in good health who was just diagnosed with bladder cancer (T2 ) with muscle invasion and had it removed via TUR on Aug. 26, 2009. A week from today I am having a CT scan with contrast to determine whether the cancer has spread/ metastisized. My urologist says it is an aggressive type cancer but if next weeks scan shows no cancer I can see a urologist who specializes in reconstructive surgery which he has referred other patients. I am trying to stay positive but I have to tell you I am scared to death. I am also in pain when I urinate since the cathater was removed last Tuesday - which I am told is normal. Other things going on in my life:
- found out about the tumor on the day of my father's wake - I've not had a chance to grieve his death since this has been top of mind - looking for employment - worrried about pre-employment physicals There are no local support groups so this is it....any advice would be appreciated. Hello HMG, Sorry about your father. I also had T2 bladder cancer. I am a 63yr male. I chose (over bcg treatments) to have my badder removed august of 2007. This is not so bad. It is major surgery but your young age should help your recovery. Do a google search for(Bcan)click on online support. This is a very good support group for bladder cancer. Any questions just ask. plym65
