that sucks! what happened?! I hope it wasn't too bad, I've only had stupid comments but don't take it too hard, they have no clue what they are talking about and most of the time are non-straight themselves, they just can't accept it. Ppl. who are fine with their orientation don't gay bash/

I'm not sure what counts exactly. My girlfriend and I have had a couple incidents that we can't say for sure were gay bashing, but might have been. There was one time in Toronto we were standing at a bus shelter holding hands and kissing and a car full of guys threw a milkshake at us. It wasn't a really overt public display of affection like deep french kissing or anything, but rather little pecks. The milkshake hit the glass between us and them, so we weren't hit directly by it.

Anyway, we wondered if we were targeted because of our behaviour or if it was just jerks being jerks.

For the most part though Toronto is a pretty openminded and tolerant city, so we have usually felt fine there.

I read this early today & it's been weighing on my heart all day.

Yes it happened to me in 1993. The police arrested the guy but the case fell at court.
I hope you arenot badly injured.

I've been lucky enough never to be a target of it but have gotten in the way sometimes when a friend of mine has been a target. I'm sorry you experienced it and I'm sorry it still happens. It makes me absolutely sick to my stomach. The recent events at the Rainbow Bar in Fort Worth, Texas and the Eagle Bar in Atlanta, Georgia are just a couple of things that remind me how much more needs to be done.

I'm only thirteen but I've had it every day since I came out a year ago. My surname's Guy so my classmates decided to change it to Bi :( I get a lot of verbal abuse, people avoid me, some peoples parents won't let me near their kids and are openly homophobic towards me. My bf and mates gets stick for it too, which sucks massively. I've had a few puches thrown at me but I fight back on most occasions so I deal with it quite well. I think.
Don't pay attention to the ppl that get at you for your sexuality, there's no point getting hung up over a bunch of sad bitches like them. You know that there's people that love you and support you - that's all that matters.

It happened to me during my teens in a boys boarding school. I had no way of proving whether I was str8, gay, bi or whatever. I haven't been through anything like it since thankfully.

Thanks for the responses......I am doing ok but sort of still feel in shock and sad about it. Bruises fading but memory is not.
Going to see a counselor Monday and ............not sure. I guess talk about it and see what happens.

I can't believe that people can treat us this way. One of my mates came out around the same time as me. His wrists look like patchwork quilts now. I just don't understand what the big thing is. Yeah, we like men. And guess what, we like women too. What is their problem?!
Yesterday night, more than ten people chased me while i was out. One of the lads caught me while the rest were chanting 'bi' at me. He was older and clearly stronger than me and i thought 'Oh sh*t, i've had it now'. He threw a punch at me and missed my by less than an inch. I ran to my bf's house and collapsed in shock the second i was through the door. I was absolutely terrified. People treat me like hell and I'm not the only one out there. That's what hurts me; that someone else has to go through worse.

What ever happened to human rights?

I am so sorry guys to read about these incidents. I myself was picked on in high school and went in the closet when my mother flipped out on me at age 17. However, I have been out n proud for many many years and do not get hassled about this by anyone.
