I recently got a Hug from a user on this forum that was pretty offensive, and extremely inaccurate. The person who sent it is not Bisexual and only joined the forum to "offer their support." I was told that I need to "have faith in the lord" and that if I live outside the will of God then He is likely to increase my troubles until I reach the breaking point...

I don't think that this type of support is what people on this forum need. Further, I have been told that I will be damned and sent to "Hell" for most of my life, so while this isn't shocking to me as I am secure in who I am, it occurs to me that this could be extremely damaging to some others.

So I want to remind everyone that there is nothing wrong with being bisexual. I also want to remind you that God loves you and no one can tell you what God's purpose in your life is except Him.

I further recommend that if this user continues, we regard it as what it is, harassment, and we report it.

I haven't named the user here because I don't really want to start a flame war. However, the original post is in my hugbook as I said if you all want the details.

Peace,

~A

" I agree whole-heartedly Whisper! I'm bisexual, and I have a pretty good relationship with God, thank you very much. I hope you reported this person to Doug.

" I read the hug Whisper... I agree, it is somewhat offensive. How does she know you "haven't found the Lord"? People find him in their own way - there are many different religions in this world, and many different belief systems. As far as I'm concerned, her joining this group when she isn't a part of it, is nothing short of voyeurism. "

" I myself am a Buddhist. But as such I am not intolerant. I just don't feel that this attitude is helpful amongst people who are coming here to fid themselved s or get support. Its pretty dispicabwle alctually. "

" (You kinda turned into Elmer Fudd there, at the last Whisper lol.) My son is a Buddhist... well, not really, but he wants to be and is the one religion he's looking at closely! I think that's awesome.

And I know exactly what you mean. It would have been a bit different if she posted something in the public forum here saying that she was there for any of us if we wanted spiritual counseling or something like that. Then if we wanted to, WE could go to HER.

Most people come here to talk about there lifestyles and the challenges they face within it... not to talk about how to get out of the lifestyle. "

" Sorry about that. I was on my phone and it was being sorta stupid. I was also at a 4th of July picnic. Typing is much improved now that I'm at home. "

" ugh i read the hug. definitely not appropriate, i don't think that this website should be used to press beliefs on others. the hardest thing to do with people like that is to confront them, also, because they never understand why saying something like that is inappropriate. well, that sucks sorry! "

" I agree, it did suck. However, I did confront her. We exchanged a couple of messages back and forth where I asked her to kindly refrain from sending me that sort of message again. She replied by asking me to read a bible verse. I replied by explaining all the holes in her argument. Then she gave up. I didn't post all of that, because, as I said, I wasn't interested in starting a long and drawn out war in which she would get attention that she didn't deserve.

As I said, I have been condemned to hell since about the sixth grade by every Christian I ever met. I'm secure in who I am and my beliefs. I would welcome any Christian to come to me for healthy debate. All I ask is, leave the hate at the door. "

" While it's good you didn't get into details (including the person's name) I'd just like to add my own voice to the chorus of people who agree this was inappropriate. It just reminds me of why I came here: to be supportive of others and, I hoped, to avoid people who are intolerant and push their beliefs in inappropriate ways. We're not all going to agree on everything--opinions are like armpits: everybody's got a couple, and some of them stink--but at least we can be civil and respectful toward each other.

And, like you, I've been damned to Hell so many times I've lost count. It sounds like the place where all the cool people are headed. "
