i was reading some past post about manic and i have to say matrix and madisees story was describing my son to a tee. Yesterday he told me he hated me and the world. And when i took his cell phone it had alot about he wanted to kill me and cussing me and everything else. (That wasnt the first time this happened). And today its like nothing happened he was nice and polite to his sisters and everything. I am to the point where i cant take it but seeing those stories makes me believe thats what it is.
Any help will be appreciated about talking to the doctor or whatever. Thank you Posted on 07/01/09, 11:07 pm |

Hi I have severe bipolar type one which means I have hallucinations of all sorts and delusions which seems like schizophrenia.
I can understand where your son may be coming from. I told my mom I hated her tons of times, I made plans to kill her and my family. But not because I wanted too, because I was told to by Sam. Sam is a voice I hear. She's not very nice, she's cruel and mean and hateful. Maybe your son is hearing voices? I hate the world for doing this to me. For making me crazy. Maybe your son feels the same. Try taking hm to a therapist. This will give him time to talk to somebody and maybe tell them exactly WHY he hates you and the world. Perhaps he is hearing voices?

what i would say is get a camera and record his outbursts then take em to a doc its better to see the behavior in action then to just take him in it took several years to get diagnosed for me first time i got hospitalized i was misdiagniosed took a year and a half later and a court order to get hospitalized again to make the right diagnosis

Well what i'd have to figure is that recording his angry spouts may make him angrier. I know that'd piss me off. I'd feel like she was making fun of me.

I did write it all down it was all in text messages and i copied them and today the doctor had proof so he put him on prozac. Last time with out any proof he just blew me off so i knew what i needed to do. I read the storis and i think it may be the bipolar but he said that is a real strong thing to diagnose right now But well see he is set up to go to behavior health thing it will take about 2 weeks to get in they said.
Thanks for all replys! Ill keep everyone updated.

in some cases antidepressants can bring on mania and actually make things worse

Our boy 15 has done that and worse .I understand how much worry this is. He was on Prozac and abilify and that combo was OK for a while although he wasn't 'happy'. He seemed more depressed and quite than he used to be. Then came 2 really violent episodes (thank god no one was hurt). but there was several scary threats made by him and such rage and anger. He was hospitalized and now on 3 different meds..respital, tofranil, and trileptal..they seem to be working well for now. In our case. and I don't know if it's been the same for everyone with BP..the meds work for a while and then need to be either changed or adjusted. You are not alone in this...good luck
