I'm not actually diagnosed with bipolar disorder, but I'm sure I have it. I have all the symptoms and everything, but the anxiety gets so bad sometimes that I'm scared to ask my parents to take me to a doctor. My mom especially is not very accepting of me and she's kind of in denial, blaming my behavior on external factors and punishing me for it too, even though there is a lot of stuff that runs in the family. I'm sick of feeling so alone in this. How can I get the guts to ask for help?

" It took me years and a mental breakdown for my mom to believe something was wrong...moms are very difficult. Just keep trying to tell her something is going on with you and it isn't external factors. "

" Is there a staff member at school, like a counselor or someone that you can talk to? Maybe tell them about your symptoms and that you think you might be bipolar. A school counselor should know about, if not work with kids who are bipolar and maybe offer some advice as to whether he/she thinks you should see a doctor or maybe he/she can help you cope with your symptoms at school. " I am in the same situation.
I am afriad to bring it up, everytime I hint at my mom she brushes it aside and says its nothing and nothing is wrong. My family is going through a lot financially and with eachother, so I feel bad about saying something to them. I hae severe anxiety and everytime I do more research on bipolar, I have more and more of the symptoms and it makes sense. I talked to a councler at school for a bit, and he says to talk to my parents but I can't. It isnt severe enough to worry. I just don't want it to escalate. "

" Nope thAT isn't bad. I wish the same thing. I am in the exact situation and now my mum is six months pregnant so adding my troubles won't help anyone. But it is just a plead for help hopefully we will both find a different way to show those who we love to notice our pain. "
