Advice:
Should I be on meds or am I just adjusting?

I was diagnosed bipolar four years ago at the age of fourteen. Just recently a few weeks after I turned 18 I stopped taking them. I then worked at a horse farm and was getting my therapy that way by riding horses that haven't been ridden in a long time and needed it badly. I was finding myself attached to the horses and now about seven months later, I'm feeling like I'm falling back into old habits. I'm now living with my boyfriend of three months, and nothing between him and I could be better, but sometimes just little things, like if I'm hungry, or he tries to wake me up or other small things. I yell and feel like I've been nothing but mean to him. I just don't know what to do. I want to get a horse but being 18 and my boyfriend 21 it's hard to afford an animal of such extensive care with little money coming in and most going out the door quickly. We can't own anything other than the 1 fish and 1 cat we have because his parents won't allow us and his brother and brother's fiance have 2 fish and 1 cat, but we can't have a dog, not even a small one, because his parents are paying for the apartment. I'm having trouble not having any of my own pets to play with. And I think it's making me even more irritable than normal.

If you have anything that could maybe help! I would prefer not to go back onto medications unless absolutely necessary, but I also don't think it's that bad. Please help!

" Whoa our stories are prettttty dayum similar.

Volunteer someplace?

Move out of your boyfriends if it's worth it to get back into a ranch. Trust me, it's worth it if that opporunity is available. "

" And you're adjusting. You need to do a lot to transfer back into unmedicated life. Like, a LOT. Your brain is used to them, still, even after four years my brain still craves some meds... I think I DO need them... but I won't take them just yet...

Find out different ways of coping with things.

Triggers turn to thoughts, turn to feelings, turn to behavior. Basically. So watch out for how quicly and illogically that seemingly long process can go. "

" Well me and my boyfriend are deeply in love and are doing great. I wish I could get a ranch job now since it's winter here in colorado so it's much harder. But are there anythings you do to keep from wanting the medication so bad? "
