" Lexapro was one of the first medications given to me before the doctors realized I was in fact Bipolar. Given that it is an SSRI and in fact referred offhandedly as "the Cadillac of SSRI's" by some doctors due to its strength (a hybrid of citrapolam) it caused a manic episode in me with severe circumstances. Depending upon whether or not you are already on mood stabilizers this medication may be good or may be bad for you. I am no doctor all I can tell you is my own personal experience which I hope does not happen for you. I wish you luck but please be careful and do proper research even if that means soliciting more than one opinion from various caregivers. SSRI's + Bipolar is no laughing matter. Be well. "

" On lower doses like 10mg it made me really tired. On the higher dose not so much. The first time I took it about 3 yrs or so ago it worked really well but I went off it and the 2nd time I tried it I got serotonin syndrome because I am on a high dose of abilify and to 2 together made me sick. it's rare to get that though, just watch out for fever and tremors and shaking in your hands and feet. (Really bad shaking). It killed my sex drive too. "
