MY doc finally agreed with me in that the meds I was on were not doing the trick. So the next move was to try Lithium. I am nervous about this one. I am staying on all of my other meds while I start the Lithium so we know what the reaction is. I am really nervous about this med. IT seems to me that the side effects could be pretty harsh. Anyone have any experinces or comments on this one?

" Was on lithium for a few months over the summer. It is actually one of the safer drugs you can take for this disorder. Unfortunately doesn't work for everyone and didn't work for me.

If it works for you consider yourself very fortunate. Lithium has been around for decades and is cheaper than dirt. "

" You can start on really low doses as well.... I found low doses did a good job for me, while the high doses made me sick, but I also needed 3 other meds to mix......go figure....best of luck, drink your water=) "

" I had tried several meds to no avail I stayed hypomanic until I was put on LITHIUM MY MINDSAVER!!!!! You have to drink a lot of water, it can cause thyriod issues, which it did with me, but I cannot say enough good that this drug has done for me vs. bad ( weight gain.) but it is so worth it. I now see my sons with out supervision and I am steady as a.......????? ( slows down cognitive thinking as well. )

Your best bet is to look it up on the web.!!!!! "

" I've used lithium for a long time and it's good for me. Your experience won't necessarily be like anyone else so think positive and be aware. I find that all meds and herbals have long lists of possible side effects. As the old saying goes, you pays your money and takes your chance! "

" I was on lithium. It worked very good for a year, then I had digestive problems and my doctor removed from "my standard meds". I hope you have good luck with it!! "
