Im planing xmas... I have to do it early as most of my gifts have to be either sent over seas or ordered online.
I have a tendancy to go a bit wild at christmas. With my ex I spent over 500 euros one year and last year with my current bf I bought him a 180 euros Ipod when we had only been together a month or two. This year im planning my gifts and he's going mad saying I have to be careful. Be careful about what. How much is too much? ow many gifts are you meant to get someone? So far I have ordered 2 plush toys ( related to a game we both love) A large multi pack bag of reeses butter cups from the US A multipack bag of peanuit butter MnM's also from the US ((those two my friend is bringing back on her vacation)) Then I planned to buy him a teeshirt and a dvd box set off the Family Guy. Is this too much? Should I stop? Posted on 11/04/09, 07:11 pm |

I gave the hubby his xmas present early because he only has so much time he can spend on xbox live and only spent 31 bucks. I spent about 12.99 on his Birthday present which he also got early. for the same reason he got his xmas gift early. I only get him one gift for each holiday so my opinion is yes you are way more over the top than I am. However I go over the top when I get my kid gifts so I don't have the right to criticize.

That doesn't sound like too much. My family makes a big deal of Christmas. Everyone gets one BIG present and lots of little ones. Maybe your ex is worried about not being able to reciprocate.

Maybe but I LOVE giving gifts. He says we cant afford it but those wouldnt even come to 50 euros. Maybe he is worried because its my birthday next week and then our anniversary the first week of december ( we set it that date otherwise it would end up being too close to my birthday)
And I wont be spending too much on my family this year as ive started pulling away. If my Dad was still alive it would be different. Im all alone in Ireland except for him and my work. I have no family over here. And xmas is the only time of year I celebrate. I dont even celebrate my birthday. I want a tree and lights and decorations and shinies. I want presents under the tree with the smell of pine needles in my nose and the light flickering gently off the tinsel. Weve had such a hard time recently that I just want to lavish him with nice things.

yrs ago, I went into woods w hack saw & cut top out of beautiful tree and decorated it.
I only spend 20ty dollars up to $50.00 per gift. If I know that someone can't afford to buy me a gift over $10.00 then that's what I spend on that person so they don't feel bad. I much rather have home made cookies or a meal-dinner than gifts. My siblings & myself spoil our Mother. their are times my siblings & myself don't even send each other gifts except a greeting card. I also shop at the dollar store - where everything in the store is $1.00 each. I too like to have lots of gifts under my tree but nothing over $50.00 Sorry to hear about distancing yourself from your family. Dear there's only 2 things that we really have in this life: faith & our family. I'v ate a lot of crow that wasn't mine to eat to keep peace and communication open in my family. I so enjoy decorating for Christmas the most. If your friend is still in states have your friend to shop at dollar store for you. sometimes that store also has holiday candy, gifts, decorations, wrapping paper & bows. I live on a budget and my bills dictate what I can spend on gifts. Opp's, sorry for long reply.

We've set a really small budget this year as my husband's out of work. I think you should decide on an amount amount and stick to it, so far though I personally wouldn't say you've gone over the top xox
